The El Cerrito Democratic Club (ECDC) endorsed incumbent Caroline Wysinger for City Council, ECDC President Neil Tsutsui announced in an email to members.
The club did not endorse Mayor Gabe Quinto, the other incumbent who is up for re-election on Nov. 3.
To win endorsement, a candidate must receive 60% of votes cast.
Meanwhile, council member William Ktsanes announced that an in-person candidate forum for all six City Council candidates is planned for 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 30, at the Veterans Memorial Building, 6540 Stockton Ave. The event is being sponsored by the League of Women Voters, West Contra Costa Adult Education (WCCAE) and the El Cerrito Senior Action Committee.
A candidate meet-and-greet has been scheduled for 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 12, at Christ Lutheran Church, 780 Ashbury Ave. Ktsanes said it is aimed primarily at residents who participate in senior programs at Christ Lutheran, St. John's, and the El Cerrito Community Center -- but everyone is welcome.
Below are the results of ECDC voting for City Council candidates.

Truly shocking that the ECDE would endorse this incumbant. She's rude and disrespectful during city council meetings and even more rude when speaking to the gallery or when speaking to another council member. And wait, didn't she just pass the budget that is starting with a deficit? ... oh, but she couldn't even pull a number out of the air that was close to answer the question correctly even thought she has said "a budget we worked so hard on." I can only see our city's finacial crisis getting worse. The ECDE just lost whatever credibility they had left.
Correction to my earlier comment: the better link for candidate Wysinger's interview is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTn6zCSZYzk&list=PLRGu0u5hi2Fw&index=17
I attended that forum, via Zoom, and am flabbergasted that they endorsed an INCUMBENT candidate who was unable to give even a good ballpark estimate of what the City's operating budget is. You can catch the Q&A around minute 6 here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLRGu0u5hi2Fw
Or, watch all the candidate interviews here (3 others WERE in the ballpark)

What are “valid voters” in this process? Does ECDC still allow anyone who does not live in El Cerrito to join ECDC at the last minute and vote for endorsements in El Cerrito elections?
